Pros

- Pay is good, better than any of us deserve - Work life balance is average -- they don't overwork their employees. - There are some good, friendly people in the company

Cons

- Other reviews on Glassdoor mention that leadership doesn't listen to employees: this is 100% factual in my experience and those I work with. Many suggestions, ideas, or avenues of conversations are effectively blocked by people in senior level leadership positions with little to no further discussion. - A software "architect" is essentially the gatekeeper for "ideas" being implemented -- meaning that teams can't try things or innovate from the ground up and prove out ideas to the rest of the organization. Ideas have to through one person who is effectively a brick wall. If your idea doesn't meet this person's criteria, it's thrown out. This general sense of "being in control" by a select few stifles real innovation and has been a problem in the organization for years, which drove many, many employees away in the past. - There is virtually no avenue for employees to voice concerns or express how they feel things are going in the company except via their direct managers. And those managers, even though they may agree, have little to no power to do anything about it. People are afraid to speak up here, and that's a problem. - Very frequently I hear language used like "so and so is being 'beat up' by upper management," giving the overall impression that senior leadership is constantly putting pressure on or strong arming those in middle or lower management. - I have heard firsthand accounts of the head of HR belittling and insulting employees. All the while there is an internal/external HR slogan of "people first" in the company. It makes the slogan almost laughable. - There is little to no understanding of what an Agile environment is or is supposed to really look like. Senior leadership doesn't seem to really understand or care, yet they will advertise Agile in their job descriptions. Don't advertise it if it's just a buzzword to you, but you don't embrace the methodology. Don't make teams "prove" Agile to you before you decide whether you really want Waterfall. - There is a movement towards forcing teams into working specific ways that is feeling very much like a micro-management approach, with little to no feedback from the teams. This is irrespective of how productive or how well the team functions. It can sometimes feel like "big brother is watching you." - Measuring developer productivity seems to be moving to calculating numbers of story points completed by each team, which shows the organization has no real way of measuring productivity, effectiveness or value delivered to customers. - "Performance reviews" feel like a joke with a random assortment of various unprofessional documents sent at random times throughout the years with little to no guidance on what "goals" really mean. It feels more like "tell me what you did last year so I can decide if you get a raise." - Forceful changes in policies (e.g., WFH or travel requirements) come randomly, with little to no warning, impacting just about every employee, regardless if the employee was hired originally having different expectations.

Listening shows we care about what our employees are saying. It creates an environment of trust and also helps from a commitment perspective. We encourage our people and teams to come to management and leadership with any questions or concerns, and we listen. Our CEO even has an open floor policy (going beyond just an open door) where all employees have full access to her at any time of the day and all employees are encouraged to drop in and talk at anytime. We have spent the last two years focusing on developing leadership and management teams who better represents and understands the overall employee population here at QSR. We have created an Idea Café for employees to go and submit ideas around innovation of our products and internal process improvements that people may have solutions and ideas around. We are even incentivizing these ideas. It is our hope that if employees have any concerns, feedback, suggestions, etc. that they would go to their manager, department head or even the CEO or President/CFO directly to communicate all things. We as a company have introduced a new back to work model with the expectation that all employees within 45 miles of the office work a hybrid work schedule of at least 3 days in the office. We believe in the culture we are continuing to cultivate here at QSR and we need our people here to continue to do that. We are dog friendly, so our employees can bring the furry friends with them to the office, we are a casual work environment that allows for casual attire to be worn. All employees have a standing desk, collaborative work areas, an outdoor patio with cornhole, a gym and so much more to encourage a great work environment when our people are in the office. Policy changes are always communicated well in advance. In 2021 we gave 2 significant merit increases to our employees. One in April and one again at year end. I would challenge anyone who thinks we don’t lead by putting “People First”. It is at the forefront of all we do. The company events, the competitive salary and bonuses, our benefits, the longevity of our employees, the ongoing referrals from current employees who work here trying to get friends and family on with QSR and so much more. Please come visit us, talk to other employees within QSR, our People & Culture team, and even the CFO. We have made some incredible changes over the last couple years with lots of opportunities for our people.

Diversity will always be a focus, and as a minority owned company, we are also committed. Watch for all the great things to come in this amazing company moving forward.

We have instituted a Hybrid work policy here at QSR Automations. 3 days in office each week. Bring your dogs, flexible work hours, and a casual work environment. We work hard every day to listen to our employees. I know for many it has been hard learning a new routine of coming into an office again, but we think collaboration and company culture requires our people to be present some of the time in the office. Getting to know our co-workers is important on many levels. As far as Leadership goes, come see not only our company roadmap but also our product roadmap and see for yourself! We have reorganized to follow these roadmaps and vision, hired many new people and promoted many employees from within. QSR has a bright future ahead. Change is good!
