Pros

Viral product sells itself. Laid back environment. Fun people. Huge profit margin on cheap China product. "Dog friendly"

Cons

Bad case of founder's syndrome here. The baseless opinions and gut feelings of the top few dominate everything here. Founder has a different infatuation with a new shiny object (new hire) every 2-3 months. In one case, the infatuation was so severe that the company opened an office is SF because that's where the prospective candidate lived! Snail's pace product development. Best employees pushed out because of incompetent supervisors. 100+ employees. 1 product. Super inefficient and only possible because the product is viral and that good fortune probably won't last for much longer. -Not actually "dog friendly" as advertised so dog owners beware. Boss's dog attacks other dogs over and over again. Nothing is done about it. Tells you something about how this place is run -- even the easiest problems to solve go on unresolved.

Pros

-The people are what make PopSockets so great. I worked alongside many talented people. I suspect, however, that the current climate will bring turnover in the upcoming months. -The headquarters is beautiful with plenty of natural lighting and conference room space - and dog friendly to boot

Cons

-The company recently went through a round of layoffs that impacted about 65 employees with no warning or notice. Luckily PopSockets could use COVID-19 as an excuse, when in reality the company is struggling financially (money has and continues to be spent foolishly) -Employees who were not laid off took 20% decreases to their salaries and now most are vastly underpaid -Majority of the perks that are listed on the website are no longer offered: 3% 401k contribution, wellness stipend, recognition program- all have gone away due to the financial struggles mentioned above -Diversity is lacking on the leadership team. -Nepotism is a problem (as mentioned in other reviews) -A group of individuals were "promoted" one week before the layoffs with no pay to follow their increased job responsibilities. Then a week later some of the promoted individuals were laid off and the others received salary reductions. This is poor form -There are no new ideas, no new successful products. Everything since the original Popgrip has been a flop -It's apparent that the CEO doesn't trust employees which has caused various issues (firings, lack of innovation, tension, fear, the list goes on)

Pros

There aren't really any pros of working at PopSockets other than you have a paycheck. You will be underpaid unless you are a white male.

Cons

PopSockets is a joke of an organization. I highly recommend you do thorough research before exploring employment opportunities. The leadership team is old, out of touch, white males with little to no relevant industry experience. There is only one leader in the org worth working with. Their egos impact any decision-making ability and essentially ignore any opportunity for diverse feedback or impact. One of the primary leaders in charge is racist, homophobic, etc. I have never heard such disgusting words come out of a human's mouth. HR is aware and has taken no action. This individual is extremely problematic and sets the tone for what you might be signing up for.
