Great Company, Great Culture
Pros
Octopus values work-life balance, it's common to see people taking time to pickup children from school, attend events and more. They were incredibly supportive through a recent family event I went through. As a remote-first company the org treats people like adults, the focus is on getting things done rather than timekeeping and micro-managing. I enjoy it. I've found other software engineers across the org to be kind, always willing to jump in and help or answer questions; this extends out to sales/marketing/etc too. Technically I love that Octopus has teams focused on "foundations" - paying down technical debt, improving test infrastructure, taking care of platform upgrades and all those other small frictions which so many other companies don't prioritize (and later pay the price for in velocity)
Cons
As with any org that's been around for a while, there are some quirks and problems in the codebase that trace back to earlier times when the company was small. But Octopus is aware of these and actively works to modernize and improve these things, I've done several myself.
