Pros
Great vacation days after 5 years. Room for advancement by testing your way up the chain. A job that truly is never the same day to day and will always keep you on your feet. Opportunity to make a difference in people's lives.
Cons
Forced/Threatened into meeting their quota system or punished with unfavorable assignments and negative evaluations if you resist their "performance goals". Favoritism and rewards to cops that probably shouldn't even be wearing the shield to begin with because they go out and hammer everyone they see with tickets and/or arrests. The stress of being a cop 24/7 and having your life under the microscope of internal affairs / inspections / Integrity Control Officer / Federal Probing / DA's office and now I believe Department of Investigations get's a pick at us too. Being thrown to the wolves (Suspended/Modified Assignment or maybe even termination) for doing your job in good faith. Negative all around atmosphere in the street for the Police. Lack of appreciation from management and the public for the job cops do out on the street.
