All Good Things Must Come to an End

Pros

Ability to learn. Free Friday lunch.

Cons

Creative, fun, collaborative atmosphere gave way to favoritism, and a blind corporate strategy. COO openly disparages the worth of entire teams. Unorganized and unstable. An eLearning company with “Learning” in the business name no longer investing in eLearning. Culture has evaporated in the past year.

Pros

I met some great people at Mosaic Learning. Had the opportunity to work on some interesting projects.

Cons

This company is basically carried by one client and it would most likely be catastrophic if that one client was lost. There are a couple promising products coming out of Mosaic Learning, but the market is already saturated by well-established competitors and products. When the pandemic hit in late March and early April, there were a significant amount of layoffs. This happened with absolutely no change management from HR or the executive leadership team. We were all working remotely at the time, and we were all terrified that we would be next. In this time of fear and uncertainty the executive leadership team turned on their employees by laying off more people and choking all remaining employee morale through unjustified performance improvement plans. Advancements and promotions only seem to happen in an effort to retain employees who try to leave, and that all depends on the employee's relationship with the executive leadership team.

Complete Lack of Management

Pros

Really great coworkers that all got along and were supportive and collaborative. Had a really good internal culture. 5 weeks vacation time. Friday free lunch was a nice thought and daily Smash Bros matches were a highlight.

Cons

Despite the nice perks, it doesn’t change the fact that the work was never satisfying and the culture of stress and overwork was extreme. This all stems from the fact that executive leadership does not manage effectively on any front. They do not manage the clients, saying yes to every bit of scope creep without coordinating with project management or those working on the projects. They also do not manage internal operations leaving everyone in the dark on integral information, budget, timeline or any expectations.
