Pros

• They will hire anyone due to the high staff turnover so no prior experience or skill needed. • You get to work with schools so you meet some very passionate people. • Owned by Capita so good corporate experience.

Cons

• The software is a hotchpotch of broken features, failed promises and outdated technology. • The software is released to live customers without being tested. • Bugs raised by customers are lost in the abyss of an archaic job system that no one manages or even cares about. • Some Managers and senior team members are bullies, actively seeking to belittle and trash staff sometimes to their face but most often behind their back. • Little to no training provided, push to work on Microsoft Certification off your own back with the promise of a pay rise but none becomes apparent when you work hard and gain such certification. • Expected to work above and beyond but no recognition returned to you for such actions. • Senior Managment focused on sales and not service. • The staff that leave the company are used as scapegoats for poor performance or high staff turnover where its Managers disgraceful work ethic and poor software that is the cause. • Staff are moved into senior positions without training or pay increases with the parent company Capita not being updated on new Job postings. • The software hasn't been innovated in 5+ years, development is stuck in a vicious cycle of trying to keep up with technology trends with no effort to reduce technical debt. • No understanding of continuous delivery, continuous improvement or software as a service. • Making customers (schools) pay for software and services at a price that doesn't reflect the value they are actually getting. • Abusing its position as a market leader to peddle poorly designed and broken software to schools. • Low Pay compared to others in the area.

Pros

The products you are actually selling do have a huge impact on the education sector and bring many benefits to primary/secondary schools and colleges etc. Working hours are good 8.30-4.30, particularly if you have children. Team incentives are fun, but not great for the entire team e.g. throwing darts at a voucher stuck on a dartboard - it seems to go to the same few people everytime that had better accuracy, defeating the point of the incentive in the first place...

Cons

There were a number of incidences where unfair, unjust and poor management was shown – to the point where I tried to raise a concern with Capita HR regarding office bullying but was told I might lose MY job if I did! Yes that's right, not the individual who made my life a living hell - me! I won't name and shame on Glassdoor, but there are members of that team (who are still there) that reduced me to tears and created levels of anxiety that made me feel nauseous on a daily basis. You can get in early every day, you can stay late every night, you can spend hours of your own spare time creating material that the company then uses and markets out to schools (and takes full credit for), yet none of that is actually noticed and more important issues like wellbeing of staff is just swept under the carpet. A (former) Team Leader would have favourite members of staff, literally doing the work for her most loyal servant and neglecting the rest of the team. This 'favourite' also happened to be the employee that made my life a living hell... No matter how many times you raise an issue, be prepared for a year's worth of backlash and abuse. Unless you have the biggest mouth, are the biggest gossip and spread rumours and lies around the entire office before anyone has a chance to form their own opinions then you might as well run away now... There is a bittersweet irony that you are dealing with the education sector at MLS, because being in that office is like being back in a Primary School playground!!!

Pros

No prior qualifications or experience necessary for helpdesk or sales roles so easy to get a foot in the door in the technology industry Poor software stability breeds good analysis and critical thinking skills Excellent experience of working in a large soulless organisation without being 'just a number' Blame culture means you're unlikely to be held accountable for your mistakes Pay is low enough that expectations of new employees are also low

Cons

No prior qualifications or experience necessary for helpdesk or sales roles leads to developers and managers belittling employees Poor software stability breeds contempt for development team, and attracts irate customer complaints Excellent experience of working in a medium-sized family firm that still thinks small Blame culture means former staff are always childishly held accountable for current staff's issues Pay is low enough that you will be tempted by any carrots that Management dangle in front of you
