Pros

The Hospital is fairly New & Close to Home

Cons

To spite years 9+ years of 4.6%+ of 5 % excellent evaluations. Being one of the foundation reasons the hospital even has a particular specialty program. Achieving the commendation of being Fired for doing a job the way management expected the job to be done. All the while never being sent for proper training. The department manager gossipped to peers the week before my dismissal about the plans of my demise. Never once speaking to me about the issue @ hand, Mind you I did the other duties as specified the way they expected me to it for the last 6 yrs., without the proper training. Be careful when you give your all! Appreciation is shown by firing you and ruining a lifetime of a positive reputation. Disheartened loyal employee!

Pros

I worked for Antietam Health Services in a business department. The only pro about the company I have is that the benefits were great. It was just an okay job but I did learn a lot while there.

Cons

Manager in my department had issues with all staff and the company didn't care about losing employees to this one individual. It wasn't the place for me.

Pros

Hybrid work for those in the area. Exposure to EPIC.

Cons

List of cons and their scenarios that made me regret choosing Meritus two years ago over another company I had received an offer from that lead to me resigning: Pointed out issues with how industry definitions were not correct but was dismissed. Example being they defined a SQL view as a data model by prefixing the name. Then they used that same prefix of that view to call it a schema. I was warned by a co-worker not to point out issues because it was how another co-worker was let go shortly after I was hired. This went against what they talked about in orientation so I chalked it up as office gossip. I continued to point out issues and suggestions but these were dismissed. Ten months went by in my second year were I did receive kudos and recognition for my work. During the last two months there were 4 issues that were brought to my attention that I was told showed I didn't know what I was doing. Therefore I did not receive a merit increase. I reached out to HR after my manager told me that they couldn't have anyone on their team come October who didn't know what they were doing based off those 4 issues out of the 12 months of the review year. HR did reach out directly to the manager but in a way that didn't include me so we could talk in the form of a safe space to mediate and make sure communication issues wouldn't arise. This caused a 1 on 1 conversation with a very frustrated manager. Communication afterwards further broke down. I pointed out that at least 2 of those issues were still a challenge for the senior analyst who weren't able to solve them for another 3 months. This was dismissed. I pointed out that I was acting under the guidance of senior analyst with those issues. This was dismissed. I was then told that I was shouldn't be asking for help. I was then told that I should ask for help when needed. I asked for clarification on what that meant and it resulted in that I must do my due diligence but no longer than an hour then ask for help. After following this was told I was asking for too much help. Ultimately a catch 22 scenario. I did point out that my co-workers also ask for help as they even stated in our team meetings but this was dismissed. To be clear on what I mean by dismissed, I define it as either completely being ignored or saying that they weren't the issue with me learning. When I made suggestion for what would help me learn those were dismissed. I was then later told that they told me that they tried to help me learn but I just wasn't getting it. I then reached out to HR again. This time the call was with HR and senior management. From there I wanted to explain what I thought was going on and noticed some bias based off of my experience level in analysis. Instead of asking me to show them what I meant they made accusations and assumptions. So I went the path of surrender, again thinking it was just my knowledge that was the issue and wanted to start over. A call with senior management and my manager did take place to describe how I can get up to speed. However, during this call conflicting standards became very apparent. I was once again in a catch 22 situation.  It became apparent to me that the toxicity was going to continue until I quit. I was fully remote so I could've handled it a bit more since I didn't have to be in the office. However, it was very obvious to me that they were never going to give me merit increases since they could make something up to do so. I found several contradictions were they weren't holding everyone to the same standard. I had talked about these with my manager after the first HR call and at first it seemed to be cleared up but then the occurrences continued to happen. They would acknowledge these but then dismiss them and enforce them on me again. I write all this out so everyone has a clearer picture of what I define as cons so you can make your own judgment since I was new to healthcare and analysis. However, I will say in my new analytics role everything is as I would expect to be versus at Meritus were they seem to keep everything very muddy. I can echo what several other reviews say about the toxicity of this hospital. I worked at a similar muddy and catch 22 management driven company several years ago and they were ultimately shutdown because they were too dysfunctional. So if you are trying to choose between an offer from Meritus and another company, choose the other company. If you are just looking to gain some experience and want to move on and Meritus is your only option then go for it knowing what you are getting into.
