Pros

The people I worked with on a day-to-day basis were wholly wonderful. There was a real feeling of community and the work felt fulfilling.

Cons

There is a real problem with upper management. It seems like nobody really knows what the company is doing long-term, and right now it seems like they're really flailing, trying to survive after some disastrous decisions. For example, there was a push to build products beyond the core idea of the company, like Wordpress plugins and themes. This lack of focus came to the forefront when we fully dropped them after years of work had been done. Then, when work was being done on a core feature of the company, the publisher and internal dashboard, the teams were forced to launch before the product was anywhere close to being ready, frustrating the publishers that were being prompted to start using it. None of this was helped by the fact that they laid off the entire QA team, so the engineers were not able to get feedback from people who really knew how to test software, not just from employees mentioning when something was wrong or felt off. Additionally to this, it really felt like the C-suite was incredibly out-of-touch with what mattered to their employees.

Pros

Some perks are okey. A few coworkers are genuinely kind

Cons

- Communication from management is nonexistent, and expectations are always unclear - Constant layoffs create fear and instability among staff - Pay is far below industry standards, exploiting employees in smaller towns - Competition moves ahead while the team is stuck using outdated methods - Exhaustion is constant, and surviving often feels like participating in minor workplace wrongdoing - Staying here too long will completely drain your energy and morale

Pros

Unlimited PTO, remote, decent perks after 90 days

Cons

Constant layoffs, extremely poor communication from management, unclear expectations, stuck in old ways of thinking and operating, not truly product-led, competition is always ten steps ahead with a better product and better performance.

Pros

Good PTO and decent health insurance.

Cons

One of the most toxic work environments I’ve experienced. Favoritism, poor management, lack of direction, and weak communication were constant problems. Leadership regularly said one thing and then did another, especially around layoffs, which destroyed trust. Pay felt below industry standards, while micromanagement became worse over time. The company also had a very one-sided political and ideological culture, and employees who did not align with it did not always feel comfortable speaking openly. On the operational side, teams were often left unprepared for product changes and expected to learn new features at the moment of release while handling publisher concerns in real time. Product issues were frequent, and the overall environment felt reactive instead of organized. Combined with constant turnover and vague explanations around departures, it created a chaotic and frustrating place to work. I would not recommend this company to anyone who values stability, professionalism, fair treatment, or peace of mind.

Layoffs, Layoffs and more Layoffs

Pros

Not a bad work environment, while it's last

Cons

Turnaround, chaos, uncertainty, no clear direction, lack of communication from management. Doesn't matter how you do your job,l or what's your performance. YOU WILL BE FIRED!!! Not because you did something, but because the upper management doesn't know how to run business. Layoffs not going to save this company. They'll hire new people and then they'll fire them again. The worst thing is your management doesn't really care about providing any reason. So it looks like it's your fault. When in reality, it's the company. When your management doesn't know how what they're trying to do, they fire people. Again and again. Sinking ship.

Great people, but poor leadership and a shocking layoff experience

Pros

The people at Mediavine were the best part of the job. I worked with smart, collaborative teammates who genuinely cared about doing good work and supporting one another. The company also offered the flexibility of remote work, and for a long time, the work itself felt meaningful and energizing.

Cons

I walked into an organization that lacked proper leadership. The company was reactive rather than strategic. Priorities shifted frequently, communication from upper management was inconsistent, and employees were micromanaged to an extreme level yet often left without sufficient clarity or transparency regarding decisions. I was laid off in July 2025, and even though there were multiple rounds of layoffs before that, it still came as a complete shock. That was the clearest sign to me that leadership was either not being transparent with employees or was disconnected from what people were actually experiencing on the ground. It is hard to trust a company when layoffs feel sudden and avoidable from the employee side. While there were many talented individuals and strong contributors, managers could not compensate for inconsistent executive communication, frequent changes in direction, and instability. Some opportunities for professional growth existed through new projects or added responsibilities, but clear career paths and consistent development plans were lacking. Advancement often depended on leadership changes or shifting priorities rather than a structured process. I left disappointed, not due to the work or colleagues, but because leadership did not provide the trust, focus, or consistency the company needed.

Pros

Amazing teammates Benefits are decent

Cons

Leadership does not actually care about employees. Every year they promise safety and stability, and every year they lay off more people. The company is half the size it was just two years ago!! All the while, leadership gets bonuses the size of an employee's entire salary while denying transparency and care to the people that do the work every day. The company has a habit of letting go of employees after finding out they have medical issues and/or need to take FMLA. Employee concerns are not taken seriously when voiced Pay is not enough for the workload
