- Onboarding was rough and pretty much non-existent. In my first hour I was asked to pull a report from tools I didn’t even have access to, which set the tone for the rest of the employment.
- Recognition is also basically non-existent. You can work hard, hit targets, and still never hear a “good job.” When confronted on this, I was told that isn't their managerial style.
- Some managers brag about working late nights and weekends and treat that as the norm. There is quiet pressure to match it.
- You’re told things like “the ELT and board don’t care if you’re on vacation, we need this done now,” which says a lot about the culture.
- Expectations jump around without warning. Priorities can change overnight and no one explains why.
- Bringing up concerns can backfire. Instead of working toward better communication, it creates awkwardness or defensiveness.
- You can be given a meeting invite called something harmless like “high traffic page optimization - quick wins” and walk in to see HR sitting there.
- Zero transparency around performance. No coaching, no written or verbal warnings, and then suddenly “it’s not the right fit.”
