Pros

Remote culture. Half-days on Fridays in the summer. 2 weeks off at the holidays. (note none of the pros are actually about people or work)

Cons

Every week we show up, wondering if there will be another mass firing. There are already murmurs from the people that another big restructuring will be taking place soon. The product is pathetic, it took us 6 months to release our latest update of things that were supposed to be released in December. Several of our customers don't like us very much. We cannot seem to get a project completed without changing the teams. We have lost so much momentum since the first mass firing. When they fire you en masse, they don't give you a warning. You just wake up and are locked out of your computer. We have way too many managers and upper-level admins. Most of which seem to do absolutely nothing. The boat is on fire and upper levels know that in the event of an acquisition, they will get the parachute. The ICs know that we're screwed.

Pros

- You can make a big impact right away from day one, particularly because there is a significant need within the company and the fast-growing industry. - There are a lot of passionate employees who are willing to go the extra mile and help each other, as well as customers, out - You learn a lot and grow quickly

Cons

- Benefits are not great (two weeks vacation, no 401K match, no defined raise cycle nor bonus structure) - For the number of hours and output expected, compensation is bad (with better work-life balance, I would consider if to be good compensation) - Work-life balance is miserable; the job consumes you and allows for nearly no personal time or separation - Products have significant issues that need to be addressed; configurability is limited based on industry standards as well - Inexperienced/inadequate middle and upper management - Minimal appreciation for work/effort - Nearly impossible customer commitments and timelines that are frequently missed - Retention is low and several strong employees left during my tenure - Employee morale/happiness is low as well, and I didn't feel like that was a priority for leadership

Pros

The ship is sinking at an alarming pace. Oh its fully remote.

Cons

Leadership crashed the boat, they continue to make the same mistakes, there is an implicit objective of shrinking down the company to the bare minimum expression. Maybe they want to achieve some milestones to be able to sell? The new way of producing products will backfire big time. Clients won't like what they bought, maybe there will be compliance issues. The environment has become so toxic that is no longer viable to work there. Entitled newcomers disrespecting folks that have been there since the beginning. Complete misunderstanding of the business, trying to sell an SaaS product when clients don't like the approach.
