Pros

The company is good with lots of benefits and great culture. They have an annual retreat where they fly out employees from all branches to a different part of the country to spend a few days. Biweekly Lunch and Learns, snacks and drinks, swag for new hires including a small Away suitcase. On the software engineering side of things: you learn a lot in a short time.

Cons

Things may have changed since my leave, but when I was there in 2019, the engineering team was absolutely toxic. Just to name a few: - Seniors make you feel stupid for asking questions - Asking for help was almost always answered with a "No" - Was once furiously told that I was "literally wasting all of our time" while getting assistance. No repercussion for person who said that, no follow up. How do you call that a team? - Spoke out about not getting assistance and was told to keep on asking... "Type A Personalities" isn't an excuse for behavior that causes a toxic team environment.

Hi there! Thank you for your review, we are truly sorry to hear about this experience. We are a people first company, so it is extremely important to us that each and every employee feels valued and heard and we have high standards for how everyone is treated. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our employee experience; we recently began launching entry surveys to get input from our current employees on how everything is going. We would love a chance to understand your experience better so no other employee has to go through a similar circumstance. If you are open to it, please reach out to us by contacting us at peopleandculture@koddi.com. We hope you reach out directly so we can rectify this. Pros

As a software engineer working here, I can acknowledge that Koddi does have some positive aspects, although they hardly outweigh the overall negative impression. We do get free snacks, a small perk that comes in handy during the work day. The paid time off policy isn't half bad, though it doesn't completely compensate for the issues we often encounter. One of the positives I do appreciate, as someone in a technical role, is the option to work remotely. This offers some flexibility, particularly when you need to dive deep into problem-solving without the distractions of the office. Yet, one of the few highlights is the presence of some genuinely talented and dedicated colleagues in the team. Despite their efforts, though, these benefits struggle to neutralize the underlying challenges that are a part of working at Koddi.

Cons

In my experience as a software engineer with this company, a number of challenges have undermined the potential positives. At the forefront is the issue of leadership, whose egotistical approach tends to recycle the same ineffective strategies repeatedly. More concerning is that when their decisions backfire, we, the engineers, are expected to increase our workload to compensate for these missteps. Furthermore, the nature of the work itself often feels unrewarding, with a company culture that seems to value quantity over quality. This mindset translates into a codebase riddled with bugs and leads to releases that are far from smooth, often feeling almost impossible to achieve. The lack of structured processes and the absence of genuine, innovative engineering are palpable issues that exacerbate the work environment. Moreover, the organization seems to have fallen into a 'Cargo Cult' pattern of practice, replicating previous strategies or techniques without understanding or considering their effectiveness. To top it off, the frequency and length of meetings are draining, with some days feeling like an endless loop of discussions rather than productive work. This poses a serious hindrance to our development cycles and progress. All these factors considered, it's quite clear that Koddi has a lot to improve upon to create a favorable environment for its technical staff.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and we appreciate your desire for improvement in our organization. Given we are a culture of feedback, we would like to encourage you to also share your feedback with your manager or the People & Culture team directly. We appreciate your advice to management and we are excited to have recently hired a CTO who is observing our ways of working, enhancing the processes we have in place today and actively identifying opportunities where we can continue to make the experiences for our employees great. As we continue to grow, we want to ensure we are maintaining a balance of quality execution and innovation while recognizing and rewarding our employees who are going beyond in both areas. We will also continue to facilitate post mortem meetings after key releases and projects we launch to ensure we are learning from each initiative and improving from the time before. Through our employee engagement survey, we heard that meetings can consume much of the work day and while we value a highly collaborative environment, we do recognize that focus time is important. To address the feedback we heard, we implemented no internal meeting days, with the intention of giving our teams some time back in their week. We also conducted workshops around Meetings Mastery and how to ensure we are having the most efficient and effective meetings possible. Additionally, we encourage everyone to take full ownership of their calendars and to feel empowered to manage their time accordingly. Again, we appreciate the candid feedback. If you would like to further the dialogue, we highly encourage you to start the discussion with your manager, as these important conversations are helpful in driving solutions and continue making Koddi a great place to work.

Pros

Unlimited PTO, remote positions and you get a chance to work with some pretty nice people

Cons

Management is ignorant and they about everything, pay is very low. This company doesn't care at all about the quality of their products. Rush, rush rush and ship it out and they will just patch it later.
