They say “if you enjoy what you do, you'll never work another day in your life.” Well, Hubdoc has changed my perception of “work”. I have only been with the company for about 5 months now and can truly say that I’ve never felt so much pride leaving work at the end of each day. I took the time to reflect back on all the learnings since day one and can’t even believe how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time. I’ve worked for a few different larger & smaller organizations over the course of 10 years and can truly say that working at a startup is a whole different ball game, in a refreshing way. The first 2 months were definitely challenging! Simply getting used to the hours and the tech industry was overwhelming as I am by no means very tech savvy. However, being in a positive work environment where people are passionate and take ownership of their roles has been key. (No nonsense, just work) Luckily, I’m also surrounded by a great team lead and a supportive manager who has been part of me evolving so quickly. For example; I have never thought of myself as a leader but so far, I’ve been given opportunities to portray certain leadership skills that I never thought existed. From my past experience, it’s typically the loud/ extroverted folks who get noticed and promoted and that can be discouraging when you are at the opposite end of the spectrum. Hubdoc has been different in the sense that people are given a chance to actually make a difference but of course having a great attitude and giving a damn is key! No workplace is going to be perfect Hubdoc included , and they definitely make you jump through hoops to get hired here but if you are offered a job, take it! I can’t speak for everyone at Hubdoc but I am genuinely happy going in to work each day and could not be more excited to see where I end up a year from today! Side note; the CEO’s are extremely humble, down to earth people and that is one of the first clues that this company is headed towards much success!
