Pros

When I started here, it had the charm of a family company. A little old school in some ways but managers, employees, and even customers liked that we weren't like every other big box dealer group such as Sonic Automotive or AutoNation. A lot of the charm is still here and it's better than other stores and groups.

Cons

The top brass has decided that the old ways have to go and new ways are better; they are trying to be a big time volume based dealer group without the necessary tools and people in place. Pay plans that don't work for you. Unrealistic sales goals. High tension. It's all the bustle of the giants with none of the technology or selling tools. Feels like they hired a bunch of consultants off the street and decided to implement all of their suggestions at once instead of gradual change.

Pros

They have to pay you, legally. They very rarely fire people.

Cons

Poor Management. They care more about money than the quality of the cars and customer service. I don’t know about all of the Hennessy stores but the JLR stores are the worst. Employees are not valued and are constantly looking to leave. Sales team is given nothing but negative reinforcement. The pay plan is constantly fluctuating. If you’re a new Salesperson be prepared to receive little help. Managers are lazy and often no where to be found. You are just a number here. The JLR stores recently switched over from the Father running the dealership to the Son running the dealership. The changes have been very extreme and NOT AT ALL positive. Employees felt very welcome and valued before, there were Christmas bonuses and the previous owner made sure he acknowledged your presence. The new owner barely interacts with employees, probably because they don’t matter.

Too many chefs, not enough cooks

Pros

They do *attempt* to incorporate a mom and pop local dealer group ethos. Most top level managers and execs are open to feedback at all levels.

Cons

Car dealerships will car dealership; each hour of every day is expected to be an upward trajectory of profit and volume. Most dealerships lack the infrastructure foe their goals. Managers are quick to blame subordinates. They are a Mecca of buzzwords which they think puts them in an elite group.
