      Avoid unless you like constant chaos and no money

      Pros

      - product is solid, but lags behind competition in innovation and speed of development. Amplitude is the clear leader in the space and doing 10-15x revenue per quarter - managers genuinely care about you - good benefits and remote-first - decent work/life balance

      Cons

      - Almost no one hits their numbers, and the ones that do can barely explain how they did it. Usually it is one inbound lead or two that contributes to the majority of the success - Management is constantly changing processes with no rationale, leading to constant chaos amongst us reps - Senior sales management has been a revolving door, so theres a new wave of change every few months when someone quits or is fired - There are no opportunities for career growth or promotion for sales reps. I havent seen any reps get promoted and because leadership changes so much theres no indication of even how to get promoted. I don't think we have hit a quarter since I joined, so it has seemed like everyone is doing so poorly there is no real time to focus on growth - It appears everyone from enablement, to ops, to solutions consultants can't see a future here and has quit. We lost some really good talent the past few months all the way up to the CRO, who I believe was the third CRO in 4 years.

      Thank you for your feedback and thank you for your contributions to Heap. I agree that Heap’s product is strong. I don’t know where you gained your data related to Amplitude and Heap’s revenue. According to Amplitude’s last earnings report, their revenue is ~3x that of Heap’s. Amplitude is forecasting growth of 19-21% over the next 12 months which is slower than Heap’s growth (last 12 months and next 12 months). Finally, Heap’s head-to-head win rates vs. our competitors are quite healthy and /Heap’s product differentiation is both durable and expanding. I’m saddened to learn of your challenges within the Sales organization. Per our company value of “Respectful Candor”, it would be great for you to give this feedback to the leaders within Heap, myself included. I’d be delighted to talk anytime. With respect to sales attainment, Q4 was the best sales quarter for our “Strategic” (big company) segment ever at Heap. Team attainment was >100%. That said, similar to most B2B SaaS companies, we are experiencing and adapting to the headwinds of the current TechSession. Prior to this slowdown, Hep had exceeded our sales plan for 9 consecutive quarters. Heap is now (Q1 2023) releasing its most differentiated and compelling products ever (no hyperbole). Engagement scores from Heap teammates on our most recent survey (January) were high while attrition at Heap has been low (better than industry averages). With respect to sales leadership changes, I did decide to make changes. That was my decision and I stand by those decisions. I am confident in (and supportive of) the Heap’s current sales leadership team and am excited about the CRO candidates that I am meeting. Finally, as I stated in another GD post, I’ve learned that it’s important to embrace economic headwinds and adapt to that more austere environment. By doing so, we make the team and company stronger. It’s not something to fear, but rather something to lean into and overcome. I’ve never been more confident in our team and product than I am today. The company’s response to our 2023 Company Kick-off (CKO) supports that confidence. Consistent with our value of “Growth Mindset,” we (myself included) are constantly learning and improving (from both successes and setbacks). Thank you again for your feedback.

      Pros

      - Health insurance - Meet people who expand your network - An exprience to add to your knowlege of SaaS

      Cons

      - A VP spreads negtive and false opinionated information in 1:1s with reps about other reps. Ex; [name] isn't smart enough to be good. Ex: [name] doesn't know how to DQ deals. Ex: [name] is entitled and life will teach [him/her] a lesson. Even if these things were true, it is not appropriate for a leader to share with reps due to the impact it has on morale. - Team lacks diversity and new perspectives are retaliated against despite the commpany claiming to value "respectful candor." - Poor treatment of female employees including treatment of pregnant women, inbound lead distribution, and describing any disagreement from women regardless of tone and delivery a sign she's "too emotional." - Queen Bee syndrome in full effect with an individual in power attacking women below her and throwing obstacles to their success in their way while simultaneously trying to take credit for starting a women's charter.

      Thank you for your feedback. I agree that our Heaple are great additions to anyone’s network, and am glad you are learning about the SaaS industry at Heap. Also, thank you for your hard work and contributions to Heap. However, I am saddened to hear of your experience within our Sales organization. As you mention, Heap’s Values are very important to us as a company. We work tirelessly to live them. That said, living our values is always a work in process. Our values coupled with our commitment to DEI is how we ensure our company is welcoming, inclusive, and fosters advancement for all our Heaple, including women in tech. We have multiple mechanisms in place to ensure we can source (and act on) feedback and ideas from across the company - including our Ask Me Anything (AMA) slack channels, our bi-annual Engagement Survey, our Culture Committee, and our People Partners. The behaviors you describe are absolutely unacceptable. I have neither observed nor received feedback through other sources of such behavior. That said, I will conduct skip level 1:1s to probe the comments you offered in your post. Thank you.       Heap is an unstructured, toxic, & chaotic company led by inexperienced leadership...

      Pros

      Heap's current People team is one of the best I have worked with in my many years in tech. They are empathetic and listen to concerns/challenges that affect not just the company but also individual contributors. In addition, they are thorough in their investigations and take appropriate action and accountability when necessary.

      Cons

      Heap is one of the most stressful and chaotic companies I have ever worked for in my eight years in the b2b SaaS industry. Leadership at Heap leads with assumption and negativity vs. curiosity and positivity. Many constantly worry about being fired, while others desire to get laid off. There are many internal conflicts and arguments among leadership and departments. These conflicts must be better hidden from the people they manage, as that negativity exudes onto the team. It is a toxic work environment, with departments passing the blame back and forth while saying, "that's not my job," simultaneously. In addition, goals (company, team, and individual) are poorly communicated and fail to orchestrate together, causing a tug-o-war among departments. These goals and plans are constantly changing without notice or explanation, causing confusion, frustration, and low morale.

In terms of experience, our Executive team has decades of relevant experinece with high-performing high-growth B2B SaaS companies, both pre- and post-IPO. I’ve been through that journey several times. Each time is different and challenging. Heap is well positioned with a differentiated product, incredible Heaple, healthy culture and a supportive, expert Board. Our employee engagement scores are high across most of Heap's teams.
