Pros
After working for a few companies with really bad management, being hired by HiMS made me appreciate our CEO even more. He offers staff some pretty amazing benefits for a company of our size and has a clear vision for the direction of the company. Employees are encouraged to provide feedback and ideas for process improvements within their respective departments. There are team building activities, company retreats and a holiday party each year to engage with employees at other sites and thank staff for their contributions. Innovation is actively encouraged; if you see a better way of doing something and can provide the CEO with data or insights to help guide decisions, he will listen and then task you with figuring out how to execute your idea. People get along here for the most part - when there's an issue, employees are encouraged to communicate with each other to try and resolve it, and if things need to be escalated, they are.
Cons
The nature of providing integrated EHR software services is highly competitive, constantly changing and under strict regulation by funding sources and value-based care reimbursement models. This industry places many demands on companies like HiMS who have to work extremely hard to satisfy customers. The work is not for the faint-of-heart or for someone looking to coast at an easy job.
