Not What It Used to Be

Pros

Working with the latest industry technology in an environment that provides opportunities to collaborate with top professionals in the field. Great benefits and great work/life balance.

Cons

Limited opportunities for growth beyond a certain level, with management that does not support pursuing individual interests. Recent leadership decisions have significantly worsened the work culture. The new CEO has a vision that chooses to make the company look profitable at the expense of loyalty.

Not good

Pros

It's the best place to work if you like being treated like a child.

Cons

Don't believe the good reviews. Satcom Direct and their leaders have destroyed Gogo. The culture in Colorado has slowly been dismantled and replaced by a strict, militaristic style of managing and processes. Just when you think it can't get any worse, it does. Teams that were once cohesive and effective have been torn apart with reorganizations, resignations, and layoffs. Everyone answers to multiple micromanagers who do not know how to lead. Every 15 minutes of your day is examined and criticized. No talking, unless it's work related. Don't stop typing. Don't suggest improvements or question the roadmap, because SD does everything perfectly, even when they don't. Just follow orders and put on a happy face.

Pros

Flexible work schedules and interesting products. Unlimited PTO, annual bonus, and stock sharing are nice benefits.

Cons

Changing company culture following satcom direct merger. Some benefits are being taken away or reserved for top performers. Culture is becoming overly competitive and political.

Pros

There may have been perceived pros, but they only served the company’s image, not its employees or long-term health. At first this professional front attracted clients, investors, and job candidates who didn't see the internal dysfunction. Temporarily skilled professionals joined, thinking it was a high-performing culture until they realized the truth. As long as the employees played along the company appeared to function without open conflict, but it was a fragile kind of order - kind of like seeing the ever perfect life of a couple or family plastered all over social media - the truth was really behind closed doors and rarely was it ever happy. Management was not only good at hiding red flags but also at spinning problems to avoid fallout, or just outright lying. As the toxicity festered and the reputation of the company caught up to them, good employees burnt out or left and morale collapsed from the inside out.

Cons

Requests for help were met with excuses about limited capacity, yet those same limitations never seemed to apply to a select group of favored individuals. This inconsistency speaks volumes about the management culture. A toxic culture hidden behind professionalism is like a cracked foundation beneath a freshly painted house; it might look fine today, but it won't hold up under pressure.

Pros

Does well with work/life balance. Benefits are good as well.

Cons

Work culture is very unhealthy. Morale is tanked due to merger and competitive atmosphere. Favoritism and gossip makes it very difficult work as a team.
