Pros

Two weeks off at end of year

Cons

First off, the fact that the CPO, and HR rep and clearly someone on the L team wrote positive reviews recently (and not one person found them helpful) speaks volumes! Whether they are trying to improve the overall rating or they are that out of touch with reality, either way, it illustrates how toxic and poorly run the place is. Ego, greed and nepotism runs strong at GoGuardian. Bro culture, eating while talking on an all hands, hat backwards at an all hands all show a lack of respect for the employees. The new management that a recent review speaks of consists of all white men under 30 save 1! Where is the dei Cheif!? It’s appalling that someone who is paid at least $200k+ a year to run dei for an org didn’t ask for folks to go back to the drawing board when reorganization is taking place and say try again!

Pros

-flexible time off -work from home monthly fund -learning funds

Cons

Where does one even begin? 3 layoffs in 10 months should speak volumes. The culture at GoGuardian is a disaster. There used to be collaboration and positivity with career growth, but since January leadership has shifted and executives continue to make terrible decisions. Promotions are commonly given to who ever happens to be a “bro” with a manager so proceed with caution. More importantly, they often promoted people with little experience. This is not a place to develop your sales career as the company no longer is focused on improving their products, making selling anything a nightmare. Greediness and incompetence has led this company down a bad path. I give it a year before they’re nonexistent. At the rate they’re going, it actively feels like the CEO is intentionally tanking the company. Simply saying “oh no. We made a mistake and ended up in this awful situation because we made our sales goals from the numbers we hit during the pandemic” is insane. The pandemic tech growth ended 2 years ago. That’s not an excuse for bad financial decisions anymore. That’s an incompetent CEO. Run.

Pros

Good benefits and pay but not different from any other growing tech startup. GG core products are great and the company has an admirable vision. They do a good job selling talented people on the company’s mission and then kill their careers. Growth opportunity used to be really good.

Cons

Ineffective leadership with no direction has ruined a good product. Instead of using pandemic success to strengthen the core products they acquired multiple companies with no communication or plan on how to integrate. Of course every startup has growing pains but leadership has been using this as an excuse since 2018 (at least). Instead of learning from mistakes and listening to employees voice the same concerns for 5 years GG execs just stroke Advait’s ego and let him run the company into the ground. Companywide there seems to be a trend of ineffective directors and senior management hired because of their experience at Google or Amazon. As a former Google employee I can guarantee you these directors have no real experience managing people and are used to having the structure of a large corporation. But GoGuardian isn’t a large corporation, this leaves most teams with no plan or direction. The company is only still running because they continue to make great hires. Talented people with motivation and fresh perspectives are brought in and after a year (probably less now) lose the spark. We all joined GoGuardian because we liked the vision and the promise, but, after execs made many promises there wouldn’t be layoffs and plenty of bragging about not having laid anybody off in 2020, multiple rounds of layoffs and a complete culture shift have left us in the most toxic work environment I’ve ever experienced. Over the last 5 years I’ve watched too many innovative and driven people lose their passion. After the first mass layoff company culture completely shifted, as is expected. Instead of correcting course and acknowledging the low morale, Advait had his chief HR exec pretty much tell us in an all hands “it is what it is, if you don’t like it you can leave.” Clearly GoGuardian leadership doesn’t have the humility to acknowledge bad leadership patterns and make impactful changes. The company is doing worse than they are willing to admit. Seriously, RUN.
