Pros

Transparent leadership Helpful team mentality Everyone willing to support Surrounded by incredibly smart people Company who lives by Gearset. Team. Self mentality

Cons

General cons, but not negative if you're open to it: Can be very challenging subject matter if you're not technically driven Can be constant imposter syndrome - you often feel like the dumbest person in the room with so many people around you A lot of changes happening quickly These cons are balanced by the fact that leadership is transparent, people are willing to help and support, and everyone often feels like they're in the same boat

Pros

I have only had 4 jobs since leaving University. Gearset hands down has the best culture I have experienced so far. Everyone is so empathetic and supportive. I am yet to meet anyone with an ego and office politics seems non-existent, at least from what I have seen! It has also had the best and most extensive onboarding process I have experienced. They really take the time and care to make sure new team members are brought up to speed and have the training they need to understand the product and the value it brings.

Cons

The only con I have is that I am a remote worker and the UK HQ is in Cambridge which can be hard to get to. I make the most of when I do go into the office!

Pros

Everyone is smart and driven. Leadership are always thinking about what they want the company to be and they're really transparent with people.

Cons

Sometimes you are asked to do something and then things move around you so by the time you're finished with what you were working on it ends up not being needed.

Pros

The most capable, humble, genuine group of colleagues I've ever worked with. The market opportunity, product solution and customer engagement is world class. HIGH levels of autonomy to dig into the job to be done, and make bold choices to grow the business. Consistent, well support, and well rewarded personal development

Cons

Not a con, but something to consider: The work is intellectually challenging. The company is trying to solve really meaty problems for customers, all whilst moving really fast. This means the pace of change is high. Something that wouldn't suit everyone.

The best place I have worked at

Pros

Working at Gearset is a breath of fresh air compared to my past experiences. The company's values aren't just words on a wall—they come to life in how we collaborate and work towards shared goals. There’s a real sense of alignment here, where everyone is on the same page, working towards the same mission. What really stands out is how valued, appreciated, and supported I feel every step of the way.

Cons

With Gearset growing at such an exciting pace, it's understandable that implementing progression opportunities in some areas has taken a bit of time, and the expectations can feel quite challenging at times. That said, I couldn’t recommend Gearset more as a fantastic place to work!

Pros

Joining Gearset has hands down been the best career move I’ve ever made. From day one, I was encouraged to think about my long-term goals and not just the role I was hired into. What’s blown me away is how eager everyone, from management to teams across the business, have been to help me grow. Whether it’s learning a new skill, picking up experience in a different area, or diving into cross-functional projects, I’ve been supported every step of the way. The culture here doesn’t just talk about development it lives it. And that’s something I’ve never experienced before.

Cons

Gearset is an incredibly powerful (and yes, sometimes complex!) and that can feel overwhelming at first. But what’s made all the difference for me is the support. Whenever I hit a wall trying to understand a feature or a technical concept, I’m not left on my own. Between the fantastic learning resources and a team that genuinely wants to help, I always come away with clarity. Sometimes that means chatting directly with the developer who built it. Other times, it’s a deep dive with the Product Manager who shaped the vision. That kind of access and openness makes a huge difference in helping me put my best foot forward. It’s one thing to work at a company that builds great tools and cares deeply about their customers, It’s another to be part of a culture that helps you grow while they do it.

Disappointed although there was potential

Pros

Rare but there were a few really great people and the company is small enough that you'd be sure to make close friends if you found the right group. Everyone was very passionate about the product and the success of the company.

Cons

However, a lot of close-minded people work here, and when I say close-minded, I mean people who were very much stuck in their own ways and weren't afraid to make you feel like you didn't belong there. Although the CEO and Leadership team would sit next to you at your desks, there was still some hierarchy - if you've been working there for 4+ years, the favouritism and special treatment is obvious, and they held power in their decisions, even if this meant you being excluded from activities and initiatives that could've promoted your own growth.

Gearset Response

Firstly, I’m glad that our team's passion for Gearset and our product shone through above all else. However, what you share here on your experience of feeling like there are closed minds and favouritism was a difficult read. We’ve tried really hard to build a transparent, collaborative and feedback driven culture across all teams and employees, irrespective of job title or length of service. I’m sorry that wasn’t your experience, especially your feelings of being excluded from growth initiatives - I’d like to get some further feedback to learn about this, if you’d be open to dropping me a note to kevin@gearset.com? Either way, I really appreciate you sharing your feedback as it means we can learn and build an even better environment for our amazing folks. All the best for the future.

Pros

Generous - great resources and equipment, goes all out to reward everyone for hard work, I feel genuinely appreciated. Everyone really lives the values, it's a great team and I feel inspired by amazing, talented folks who are really passionate about the product and the future of the company

Cons

You're challenged and pushed out of your comfort zone - but for folks who want to grow and develop with the company you work for, this is a great thing.
