Pros

Interesting technology, and for sure a product with a future.

Cons

Micro management on the one hand, being given zero support on the other. Criticised for asking for help, criticised for not asking for help. Called an excellent software engineer, having been interviewed and hired as such, and then having your contract terminated in the same meeting. What the hell are they playing at? Do they even know what they want? Do they even know what the roles they have and what profile to fill them with? I am adaptable, I haven't ever had any problems in over 20 years delivering, and never had this kind of weird ness, yet here, it was never right. I don't even think it was personal, I think my team lead liked playing at being a manager, and wanted to mess around with people. Thats the only conclusion I can draw. So if I were you I would be very careful about accepting an offer from this company in preference over any other. I did, and I regret it.

Pros

Interesting technology/system, nice people to work with, location right next to train station, opportunities to get involved with IT infrastructure, start-up atmosphere.

Cons

Stand-up meetings every morning at 8:45 as part of agile process, complex and slow embedded software build process, three different internal networks to deal with

We greatly appreciate your feedback, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We value and take on board all feedback we receive from both current and former employees, we are committed to ensuring everyone has a positive experience at Garrison. We have recently introduced a more flexible approach to working hours and home working which addresses some of the points above. We do continue to find our morning stand-ups a productive way to encourage collaborative trouble-shooting and knowledge sharing. It’s ultimately up to each team to find their best way of working though – we’re always open to change! We are also ensuring we are benchmarking salaries against the market to ensure our employees are correctly rewarded and that we are being competitive. We’re pleased to hear that you appreciated the team, the office and the stack, and appreciate this advice to the management, and we wish you all the best in the next steps of your career. Pros

- The best thing is that the office has a massive gong, the sales team hit it every time they get a new large sale (F.Y.I. the gong is LOUD and EPIC!) - Frequent social outings - There's overall a very positive vibe in the office. - Generous pension scheme (%8 of base salary) - 25 holidays - Shares option - Free fruit & coffee & croissants, ... and more.

Cons

- Long work hours, and most of the staff stay in the office beyond the standard work hours. - Workstations access internet through a proxy. Many websites (e.g. Wikipedia) are blocked. This is done for security reasons, but makes the work very stressful. - BitDefender is installed on all workstations. It scans all I/O operations which makes compiling and searching through code slow. BitDefender also has no problem with quarantining the compiler that I need for work because it deems that it's "a threat". - Focusing on coding can be very difficult because the office can be noisy and coworkers come to your desk to speak face-to-face rather than send an email or IM.

Thanks very much for your feedback, we’re thrilled that you have enjoyed the great benefits and positive buzz of the office! We hope you continue to enjoy working here! And regarding your constructive criticism, this is greatly appreciated. Since your review the business has introduced a more flexible approach to working hours, and will start to allow more regular working from home following a successful trial in the Engineering department. Thank you again for leaving a review. Garrison
