      Interesting product, would not recommend

      Pros

      There are some very bright, friendly & driven people on the team. The company is growing fast, with high market demand in San Francisco. The team is small enough that you may have a major impact.

      Cons

      Employees are assessed based on hours worked, not on productivity. Worst vacation policy in the industry. If you need to come in at 11AM, or leave at 4PM, you'll need to use PTO. Team is unhappy (unless you catch them on a day when CEO is out of the office). Zero emphasis on culture.

I am glad that there were elements of your role which were positive and mirror other reviewers' experiences as well -- teamwork and the ability to make an impact are so important in any job. I am confident that the other areas of concern have been or are being addressed as top priorities by our largely new leadership team. We now have market-competitive PTO and other benefits and continue to try to identify ways to make them even better! I also want to note, we do not and will not ask or require employees to submit a positive company review and I am very sorry to hear that was asked of you. The benefit of Glassdoor is receiving unbiased and honest feedback so that we can do better as a company. I agree that the other items you've listed including leaders trusting the team and asking for employees feedback are essential to the success of any company -- this is always a good reminder for our leaders. Thank you again!

      Terrible culture, horrible management

      Pros

      Free rides to/from work via Chariot (this assumes you can leave before Chariot stops service, which is often not the case)

      Cons

      Terrible workplace culture-there is an overall culture of fear Employees are not encouraged to collaborate or work together, there is no connection between teams Zero work/life balance--this is not the place to work if you have a family or want any semblance of a personal life Product development was haphazard and poorly planned

      I appreciate the opportunity to respond to your review as a former employee from 2017. I believe and other reviews show that Chariot has made great strides since you were part of the team. We've worked hard to address many concerns from work/life balance to culture -- our largely new leadership and tech teams are committed to quality, respect, development and improvement and I've seen a great deal of positive change just in 2018 alone. I imagine you'd notice a significantly new atmosphere if you visited us today. We value teamwork above all else and I am sorry that your experience was so different. Like so many startups and companies "growing up," we too have gone through iterations and I am confident that our future holds even more promise for momentum and success!

      Poor business model and management practices

      Pros

      Well-compensated. Talented team. Good branding decisions.

      Cons

      Product decisions were often nonsensical and alienating to the user. Aggressive and Machiavellian management promoted a culture of witch hunting, drinking, and isolation. Constant pivoting and incomplete specifications led to lack of dev progress. Frustrated, I resigned before the year was out.

It is heartening to hear that there were elements of your experience which were positive, including compensation, teamwork and the brand. I am hopeful that the great deal of change that has come to Chariot over the last 2+ years have addressed many of these concerns and while I am always sorry to hear about a frustrated employee, I know that it is important for leaders to hear that feedback, and it may have even been integral to some of the changes we have seen.
