Pros

If you love photography and want to add real estate to your portfolio.

Cons

They don't cover your expenses, pay is below minimum wage once you do the math, software platforms are horrendous, and overall a far cry from what is promised. An example of the math: Job - 5 bedroom house / Photos - Floor plan - 360 - Matterport. Total Pay = £50 - £10.00 travel = £40.00 (note: this isn't taking in to account consumables like batteries for your flash, Insurance, or gear in general like extra battery packs, your phone, computer, tripod etc....all at your cost) Time taken: Travel - 1 hour return (No reimbursement in majority of the cases, you need to beg or they'll try sneak ignorance into the invoicing. Approx 40 miles @ AA rate of 25p per mile = -£10. When they do reimburse, they pay a measly 8p per mile, hardly enough to cover fuel, let alone your time and actual cost) Floor-plans - 1.25 hours (measure up and draft rough sketch) Photography - 1 hour 360 Vieweet - 45 minutes Matterport - 1 hour If all goes well and you don't have too chatty a client, or your Vieweet/Matterport software doesn't glitch, you can be off site and back home in approximately 5 hours, but then the headache work really starts. Draw official floor-plans - 45 minutes Upload Photos after sifting your best twenty - 30 minutes Re-arrange Vieweet links - 1 hour Tweak and align Matterport - 1 hour That comes to a total of 8 hours and 15 minutes. Divide that by your extravagant £40 wage and boom = You have just been milked for £4.84 per hour. You're a photographer right? You're worth more, get yourself onto Freelance sites that are worth their salt, or buddy up with a Designer and create yourself a website offering your services. The review listed "Loyalty is a one-way street" is spot on. I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling a little miffed about the shenanigans of Focal Agent.

Hi there. Thank you for the review and we're sorry to hear that doing property photography work with Focal hasn't worked out for you. The Focal team works very hard to create an environment for our subcontracted photographers where they can create a sustainable and predictable level of work, whilst being supported by the wider FocalAgent Community of photographers. Financially, the setup works very well for most professional photographers whilst having the flexibility to work when you want to and do other work as and when you please. Finally, I would be more than happy to discuss your suggested timings as they are factually incorrect and clearly wouldn't work for anyone. Please kindly email me on tom.claridge@focalagent.com to discuss this or anything else. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you. Tom

Thank you for the feedback and we're sorry it hasn't been a better experience for you. FocalAgent successfully works with hundreds of professional photographers all over the UK to create beautiful content for our Estate Agent customers. We are very careful to balance supply and demand so that we limit having too many photographers in certain areas, whilst being able to deliver for customers. If we can do anything more to help you, please get in touch with me directly and I'll be happy to see what else we can do to help. Thank you again. Hello there, thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry that your experience felt limited and that you weren't able to fully participate in the things that we organised. This was something we have identified and are uncomfortable with. Any new social/team activities are being planned to minimise this, if not eliminate it entirely. To pick up on the rest of your review; we're focusing heavily on the career development piece at the moment as we recognised that people were looking for more from us in that regard. We will have career paths for more than half of the business rolled out by the end of this month. I'm concerned that the experience of working with us was stressful and that management appeared two-faced. I would very much like to understand some detail, confidentially, to address this. Please email me at john.ord@focalagent.com and I'll make sure we have the time to discuss your feedback in full.
