Pros

Decent work hours. Some okay people.

Cons

HR routinely checks Glassdoor and has reviews removed that are negative. In October there were 3 reviews from former employees that vanished without a trace. Management will offer rewards to employees who leave good reviews. (Expect this to be removed in a few days, grab a screenshot and wait for the change) Expect to be asked to do things that are borderline illegal or outright illegal. The pay is far below average. No real advancement in certain departments. HR ignores claims of harassment and has fired people for complaining about bullying. Don't expect training for new products and systems. Also expect unpaid overtime regularly. 12 hour days are pretty normal if you are salary and if you push to work your normal shift you will be punished. When requesting time off expect to be told that you shouldn't take more than a day or two. Remember if you are not a manager at the Store Support Center (corporate office) you are going to be treated like garbage.

Pros

Like any entry level job, most people can do it but know how to use a computer and Microsoft software. Be prepared to work a lot of solo shifts and be kind of on your own but know that you’re being remotely micromanaged. Descent gig but the pay is kind of low for the level of perfection they expect placed on usually just one person normally working a Site. They do have pretty good benefits and the PTO and paid holidays off make it a semi-tempting offer to stay. You also could get a basic small apartment at some of the really old sites but expect your hourly pay to go down and to have certain strings attached to that.

Cons

Since the new CEO took over in 2016, things have changed progressively. It use to be a better managed company before that so company culture is in decline. Every district is a little different I suppose but I lost respect for my upper management and the support leaders when they started playing favorites and disrespecting their hardest workers. Extra Space is a little broken right now as a company and that’s too bad because they use to be better. Be prepared to be treated like a work tool eventually and a lot of empty promises from your District Manager so he/she can make ends meet and keep you strung along. Turn over is moderate to high here. The longer you stay the more you feel the company strain of just trying to get paid to do your job.

Very Disappointing

Pros

On the surface it seems like a great place, but the reality is disappointing and much different. The store employees want to do well and are really nice people, but they are beat down.

Cons

I'm not disgruntled, but expect to work with better people. The field sr. leadership is nothing but incompetent bullies who really have little business sense, but have risen to the top because of who they know. Leaders at corporate hear this feedback, but condone it by doing nothing about it as good people continue to leave. Those of us that work in the field are treated like we have no idea and are worked well beyond acceptable hours and then back stabbed and even lied about by our own leaders. Disappointing, but hopeful I will leave soon.
