The cons here are with the staffing agency. Because a staffing agency handles the hiring for analyst positions, Epiq sort of just churns through the staff that the agency provides until they find some people who do the job well. This is great if you're one of the right people, but not so great if you're not.
From the time that I was offered the position with Epiq by the staffing agency to the time that I actually was scheduled to start, I had sent 2 emails and made 3 phone calls trying to decipher WHAT EXACTLY the job really involved. When the staffing agency answered, their answer was "you will analyze claims" and when I followed up with, "so, what does that really mean?" the answer in reply was basically, "I'm not too sure."
So, here's the actual answer (which I wish I would've had)
Epiq handles legal services for different national and state-level lawsuits, bankruptcy cases, corporate restructuring, etc.
Your job as an ANALYST is this:
1. Wait for work to pop up on your screen
2. Click on the case that popped up
3. This opens image files of scanned paperwork that was mailed to Epiq
4. You ensure that the appropriate fields are signed and the appropriate boxes are checked.
That's basically it.
You know what the appropriate boxes and fields are because there is a "Procedural Document" for each case that you'll be working on which very clearly indicates the proper way to fill out the form, and helps you review it in a simple, step-by-step process.
If the forms are not filled out correctly, you tick boxes for the appropriate "issues" that the document has in another Epiq-built program, and then letters are sent out to the people who filled out the form incorrectly based on the boxes you checked, so that they can fix the forms and send in the properly filled out versions.
It's really an easy job, but the staffing agency manages to hire people who don't even know how to lock their computer screen. That's not an exaggeration. The bad reviews you see here, from what I can tell, are from those people. I've absolutely loved my time at Epiq thus far and I look forward to going into work every day. (Part of that is just because I'm happy I don't have to work in a warehouse any more.)
