Sexist, Narcissistic, MicroManaging, Clock Watchers
Pros
You do not have to know much about Project Management to succeed in this role. Be organized and anticipate administrative needs.
Cons
The top management functions as a bro club and their in-office meetings echo about the office filled with laughter and antics. Meetings with the owner take hours and last (or even begin) well after business hours. Gender biased language is used among top management about the office with phrases like "hey bro, brother, or man" being used among male employees and clients. Project Management work is administrative in nature and doesn't take full advantage of available tools to support continuous integration, record keeping, organization, and collaboration. "Experts" above you will not know how to help support you or upskill you in your position. The organization is flat and women are rarely promoted. However, newly brought on male employees are promoted regularly. Whether this is noticed by management or not is not the point. They are unaware and asleep at the wheel. Projects will be brought on quickly and without forethought or available time to even plan an initial sprint. Your hours will be watched like a hawk and work from home is frowned on. Upper management will ride you anytime you take a vacation in the name of humor, but it is far from funny. The owner is unable to keep an HR Manager employed, and you will have no recourse for any grievance or concern. The bottom line here is bro club fun and financial gain for those in the highest positions. I hope the management sees this and knows how it feels to be employed at this company. They do great work, but provide a lousy culture to do it.
