Pros

The majority of my coworkers were great people. There was work sponsored happy hours, which is good because the job drives you to drink.

Cons

Where to start? So many terrible aspects: the horrifically outdated CMS is so slow and making working efficiently a huge challenge, the huge disparities in pay, working incredibly hard on a program and having someone else sent to work your program who knows nothing about it and thus not doing an effective job, worst of all is when you see someone from another division or the marketing dept go on your program and treat it like a vacation instead of work. The university division is a revolving door of staff members and no one seems to care, clients are constantly getting shifted from account manager to account manger, which makes them unhappy. Senior leadership is not available to help much and seemingly removed from working with clients and thus doesn't have a clue how clients treat account managers. The pay is laughable for the amount of hours you work, almost all of my coworkers had a side job to help offset the costs of living in Charlottesville

Thanks for your feedback. The Capstone division has gone through some challenging times. As for the technology, millions of dollars have been pledged to upgrade our systems - much of which has been done already. The CMS project is critical and is in process but will take some time to implement across the organization.

Pros

Meaningful work with students – Supporting educational travel and seeing students experience new places can be genuinely rewarding. Hands-on, fast-paced environment – Great for people who enjoy being on their feet, problem-solving in real time, and managing multiple priorities. Travel exposure – Opportunity to work in different locations and gain experience coordinating logistics on the ground. Skill development – Builds strong skills in customer service, crisis management, communication, and coordination under pressure. Team camaraderie – Fellow coordinators are often supportive, collaborative, and bonded by shared long days and challenges.

Cons

Hours – Days can be extremely long, extending early mornings through late nights. Seasonal / temporary nature – Limited long-term growth or advancement opportunities within the role.

Pros

- Some nice team members

Cons

- In the time I was contracted 4 rounds of layoffs were done in key departments, HR being on of them. - Layoffs are done annually and intentionally at the end of the year. During the HOLIDAYS! - Inexperienced leadership, leadership is chosen based on popularity contests. The more inexperienced, the higher the chance of climbing up the ladder. Team members with vast more experience and seniority, passed on. - Phrases commonly used: “Stupid Idea” “Waste of Time” “Below my pay grade” “Above my pay grade” “Don’t speak to X” “Don’t do Y” (But Y is literally in your job description) - They hire contractors via third party to test out leadership. If leadership is not qualified, leader is placed on PIP and contractor terminated. - Everyone is afraid to speak, most speak openly about wanting to leave and applying to other jobs
