Pros

Exposure to all parts of retail and management. Have to learn and do every position at a moment's notice (claims, invoicing, UPC, receiving, unloading, stocking, recovery, cash office, loss prevention, courtesy, cashier, store standards, maintenance) which is good if you like variety and want to build skills/experience. Good pay, immediate benefits, bonus after 1 year.

Cons

Steep learning curve, barely any training, no feedback, constant store location/SWAS changes, no follow-though. Culture of exploitation, empty promises and complaining. Expected to be on call 24/7 and be early/stay late, work takes priority over lunch/washroom breaks.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
