Just a job - Sales Associate Walmart Employee Review

Pros

Seems like decent job security -- they won't fire you unless you really aren't doing your job or break a lot of rules. Depending on where you work in the store, your manager might be very cooperative about days off and what hours you'd like to work, mine definitely is. The pay isn't terrible.

Cons

It seems like no one in management can tell the good workers from the bad, or if they do, they just don't care. Recently, everyone has been getting just a "satisfactory" evaluation so that the company can save money by giving the minimum raise, meaning that people who put in 100% effort day after day received the same raise as those who just clocked in and filled a space for eight hours. Advancement happens only for the brown nosers, not the people who actually know the job. And honestly, my starting wage was lower than every other male associate I know, making me wonder if there's truth to the allegations that women here are paid less than men.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
