Pros
- Very talented coworkers who punch well above their weight. - Fun social activities despite the pandemic, but mostly focused on those in Vancouver, such as virtual cooking classes. - Interesting projects and work. - Well known company within the Vancouver tech community. - Good benefits
Cons
- Gaslighting from managers and leadership to executors, particularly BIPOC employees. - Lack of diversity at the top, with an over-representation at lower paying roles and executor levels. In conflict with so-called "company values" and hypocritical campaigns that advertise pay parity and diversity. These initiatives are just for optics and press. - External hires are prioritized for manager/senior positions while current employees are consistently looked over. - Very little opportunity for internal growth if you aren't part of the elite group of (primarily white) favourites and are unwilling to engage in fake office politics. Introverts and BIPOC beware. - Compensation is quite low and the yearly increases are low as well with a 0% tolerance to pushing back. Not even close to cross-Canada rates, never mind global remote opportunities. - The culture has changed significantly due to the investment and the pandemic. Employees have seen no benefits from this investment, just more demanding goals with no new resources or comp. Rather than people-first, it's profit-first. No one cares that many talented employees have left and nothing has been done to address the real issues on why that is.
