Pros

- Exposure to different domains of UX projects.

Cons

- Unnecessary urgency at work even when not required. - Unreasonable work policies and unprofessional leadership. Tend to do character assassination and personal attacks a lot. - Very tight timelines promised to the clients, resulting in constant long working hours for the team. - Absolute lack of gratification. Favouritism for the “sheep mentality” folks at peak.

We appreciate your participation in identifying the pros & cons. Honest opinions are always welcome at UXReactor, and we value feedback from our teammates and alums. As you already know, we are a high-performing team driven by our core values and mission to Drive Business Value through design. We need highly motivated and aligned teammates to get to our mission, which requires pushing boundaries, questioning the status quo, and selflessly helping other teammates to grow. We understand that for a few pushing boundaries becomes challenging and many cannot cope with the pace. We always aim to lead by experience. Every teammate who wants to grow, drives value, pushes their boundaries, and focuses on achieving the best outcomes for personal, intellectual, and overall organizational growth is highly rewarded and incentivized at UXReactor. We flexed our processes and policies and went above and beyond to help our teammates personally. For example, when they needed monetary support for higher education, health issues in the family, or a complete paid long vacation to re-energize. We did that in the past and will do that now and in the future. We understand that we parted ways as we were not the right match, and we believe it is good for both of us. No organizations are perfect until the people in the system take them close to perfection! It is a challenging process, but it is achievable. Once again, we thank you for your honest opinions. If you need to talk about this more, you can always reach out to hr@uxreactor.com, or we can go for a coffee or meet at our office to discuss more.

Pros

- I only suggest using this company as a stepping stone to get your foot off the door at a career in UX, and as a way for foreigners to get a chance at working at an American company. - The one good thing they do is they are very knowledgable and good at their UX design process, and very talented. They also are always willing to provide a helping hand, and you learn a lot while here.

Cons

- Absolutely no work-life balance. Depending on your time zone, it's not uncommon to start work at 5 or 6am, and/or work until 10 or 11pm at night. - Ridiculously underpaying. Pays half the market rate, how do you expect to keep employees in a competitive SF Bay Area at such low salaries? It's clear that this place is a factory, designed to attract, burn out, and replace low-level designers. - Terrible managers. You'll be micromanaged and second guessed on every design decision and expected to do a ton of imaginary work to fit into their rigid design process. Yes, the process is good, but the irony of having such as rigid design process in UX where if you go against it you're reprimanded severely, seems antithesis to the philosophy of UX that encourages creative problem solving.. - Their 6 month "apprenticeship" process where you're a contract employee, at first you think "oh I'm given the responsibility of a full-time employee!" No, that just means you're getting paid a THIRD or QUARTER of market rate and expected to do the same work. - Terrible or no benefits. 10 days PTO a year, no 401(k), stock, bonus, etc. - Bad hardware. Bulky outdated Macbook Pro that was slow and clunky.
