Pros
- Benefits, 401k up to 8% match - PTO is front loaded at the start of each year (no worry about accruing it) - Many of the positions are work from home now - Claims adjusters are hourly, so you get paid for OT.
Cons
- Complete lack of foresight and planning from upper leadership. We often lack direction like a ship in the water without a rudder. As others have said, we only deal with the immediate issues. This creates a knee jerk culture. - Lack of accountability at senior levels. Decisions were made that adversely affected the claims organization and will for some time. There was no accountability for the decision makers, and to make things worse, they preach accountability for the frontline. - Culture of fear through accountability. They like to say they focus on the behaviors that create the numbers (business results). However, the bottom line is if you do not hit your numbers, then you will not move forward. There is a very strong focus on performance management. - Limited opportunity. Although most areas are experiencing a staffing shortage at the moment, opportunities are few and far between. You likely will not promote if you do not have a bachelors degree or higher. - Workload is beyond reasonable. Not even the best employees are able to keep pace. This is not a recent issue. The company has not properly staffed their operations for years, which results in an extremely high workload. - Unattainable goals. They set “stretch” goals, which seem to make sense. However, when you combine this with the high work volume, it makes reaching all the goals nearly impossible. You may have to sacrifice meeting a couple goals to focus on other ones. Eventually, not meeting goals results in performance management. This directly impacts any merit or bonus you might receive yearly. - Lack of recognition. There is a severe disconnect between upper leadership and frontline leadership. The upper leadership only seems to focus on numbers/metrics. They often do not celebrate major achievements of individuals. I often feel worthless. Just another cog in the wheel. At one point in time they said they wanted the employee experience to match customer experience, but those days have passed. We are now in a more dark age of fear through accountability. Toxic environment. If you have anxiety issues, this company will exacerbate the issue. - Tech issues. We pride ourselves on being a tech oriented company, but the issue is we haven’t invested in our systems in years because of an upcoming system change. Systems frequently crash and then you are held to account for the time you’re offline / lack of productivity.
