Pros
The company provides great compensation and benefits, particularly compare to other companies in the industry. If you do not enjoy downtown, this is also a great place to work, as it's located further out toward O'Hare. Right on the Blue Line, the company is convenient for non-car commuters. The excellent food that is always being whipped up in the test kitchen is another wonderful benefit, and the plethora of drinks available in the break room is to be commended. Coffee, cappuchino, expresso, ice tea and hot tea are all right there for you. You can also look forward to leaving a few hours early the day before holidays.
Cons
The company has a practically stiffiling closed-door mentality, even though they spend much time talking about their open-door policies. Often times, it feels like the management has no concept of work/life balance either. While almost all positions are given laptops for convenience, the natural conclusion of working from home is heavily frowned upon. Also, even if you are not working on a particular project, taking time off for any reason is seen as pushing your boundaries. For some reason, the company seems to stifle developing inter-office friendships. Out of work functions are limited to requisite "holiday" luncheons, and that's about it. Feeling ostracized seems to be a common theme in the office
