Pros

You get paid weekly and it puts some extra money in your pocket if you have another job. The shift goes by fast.

Cons

I am a preloader. The facility I am at is very outdated for the volume that goes through there. They were just approved for an upgrade, but I am not going to be there much longer. The start time is usually different each day. The earliest I had was 3:15 AM and the latest was 5. The end time is more consistent; usually around 9:30 - 9:45. A lot of times they forgot to text me the start time so I was either late or early without knowing. I started with three other new hires, who didn't last more than a few days. They go through a lot of people for obvious reasons. Expect to be yelled at a lot. This is their method of motivation, which they seem to think works, although it just aggravates you when you're already working as fast as you can. On my first day, one of the drivers was mad that I didn't place a bulk order where he likes it, which no one told me. The preloader that was training me said "He's doing a pretty good job though" and the driver said "No he's not." The drivers complain basically every day, no matter what you do. They also expect you to know things you have never been told or shown. If you have a choice, I'd pick the night shift. Though it has fewer hours, it is much more relaxed. Don't expect any flexibility with your schedule either. I needed a day off and the supervisor gave me a hard time about it. The labor is fast paced and physical as it is. The drivers are very rude, so this job is definitely not worth it. They try to lure you in with decent pay and good benefits, but you don't get benefits until you've worked there for a year. The drivers expect you to have everything ready when they get there, even if a huge chunk of your packages doesn't come in until the very end of your shift. They are even rude to employees that have been there for a while, not just new hires. I'm sure some other facilities are different, but my experience here is terrible. I'd rather be working in the kitchen in fast food again than work here.

Pros

The pay is excellent .health care is 100 % paid with 100 %coverage...with exception to eye and dental which is about 70%..coverage...pension is outstanding..full package with wages and benefits is worth 130,000 yearly..without a college education I am grateful for the standard of living UPS HAS AFFORDED ME AND MY FAMILY!...and with 27 years of service I now get 6 weeks vacation with 8 sick days..and 9 paid holidays...we work hard like many people in the work force but we are well compensated!.

Cons

The only con is while your children are young you give up a lot of family time..I never got to watch my kids play sports and missed a lot of their growing years...the job can be hard on your home life but if you can make it through those years you and your family will enjoy the financial freedom that UPS provides...and now I look forward to a prosperous retirement!...so hang in there all you young drivers...
