Pros

Benefits package- sounds great, the schooling reimbursement is very nice of them too. Medical and dental are after a year of working. Paid time off- holiday and pto are great too, again after a year of work. Part time hours- in theory this sounds great, you get lovely benefits for working part time, you work 4 hours a day and can do your own activities with the rest of your day! -I did like this, but you get to wear your own clothes!

Cons

I can only speak as a part time package handler, loader. Here's my thoughts: -you will be so tired most of your days you will be sleeping, trying to get your strength back to do it all over again. -they don't pay well for what you do, so you will be extremely worn out and no way to treat any medical issues, unless you get another job but this job will wear you out. -training is horrible. Maybe 2 hours total of videos(shown to you at 5am btw) and then it's off to the conveyor belt with you! -you are expected to perform with the speed and accuracy of someone who's been doing it for 25 years immediately! -you can be promoted to management......if you've done 4 years of school. Otherwise it's part time promotion. -they initially tell you it's about 4 hours a day but your arrival time gets pushed up. So let's say you are told "typically it's 4am to 8am" before your shift is over they will come to you and say "come in at 3am, now 2:45am, now 2:30am" and you may leave at 9am. By the time 8am hits you just want to leave! -no lunches, just a 10 min break. So you come in thinking 4, you might do 7, no lunch! When you're hired you sign a meal waiver form. -not just 70lbs you're lifting, I know I was lifting more than that several times! -they have no idea how to pace new hires. Can you sort one thing? How about three?! Can you load one van, how about four? Do these at the same time btw with 100% accuracy! -for what they expect out of you and what they take from you daily, I shouldn't be able to work a much cushier job and make the same to more. Pay your employees more! Especially if they have to wait. A year for the good stuff to kick in. -this is not the military, you are not weeding out the weak with the insane workload, if I wanted to join the military I'd do just that.

Pros

The pay is excellent .health care is 100 % paid with 100 %coverage...with exception to eye and dental which is about 70%..coverage...pension is outstanding..full package with wages and benefits is worth 130,000 yearly..without a college education I am grateful for the standard of living UPS HAS AFFORDED ME AND MY FAMILY!...and with 27 years of service I now get 6 weeks vacation with 8 sick days..and 9 paid holidays...we work hard like many people in the work force but we are well compensated!.

Cons

The only con is while your children are young you give up a lot of family time..I never got to watch my kids play sports and missed a lot of their growing years...the job can be hard on your home life but if you can make it through those years you and your family will enjoy the financial freedom that UPS provides...and now I look forward to a prosperous retirement!...so hang in there all you young drivers...
