Pros
Great People (for the most part). Work is interesting and will ramp up with AMP8 and media/governmental pressure. Pension is quite good.
Cons
HR have no clue what they are doing. Would rather employ on 'diversity' rather than merit. In Engineering this simply does not work. They think they know what is right for the business, but simply do not understand the needs, and qualities that makes a good engineer, a good engineer. I honestly can't think how they fill their days with actual work. They'd rather put forward candidates for positions on EDI qualities that fundamentally don't matter, instead of based on their personal and technical abilities in the field. There is also reluctance to give pay-rises for good work, merit, and loyalty. People will simply leave the business. How else is all the work going to be delivered next AMP without good engineers? HR are too focused on EDI Hiring than actually finding good engineers that would be suitable for technical roles. No bonus scheme for lower grade (and the majority) of employees. A bonus scheme was promised a number of years ago as part of a pay deal with the unions, but has been avoided being mentioned when pay discussions come around every year. Another problem caused by HR incompetence yet again.
