Pros

Benefits were decent but you have to pay for them

Cons

So many I can’t name them all. I worked my butt off. That's what I was raised to do. I sacrificed a lot for this job and the last year of it my health suffered more than I realized. Ultimately, the job nearly killed me. When it was nearly killing me, all I was told was "concentrate," "if you don't do better, you'll be terminated," or "you're doing it wrong." I'm almost certain now that policies regarding coding aren't legal. QA errors are probably do not mean a chart isn't coded wrong, which means a coder is dinged for something that might not even be coded wrong if the charts were audited by the state or federal government. It's impossible to fit into whatever club keeps you from being fired or treated like crap here. You either have to smoke or kiss a lot of butt. Unfortunately, I don't do either. Despite my health failing, I only called in sick 3 days. One of those days was two days before I was admitted to the ICU in liver failure. I was fired 12 weeks later. It didn't matter that my work performance had failed because my brain was damaged from a severe illness. They didn't care. I didn't belong to one of the "clubs." HR has no clue about anything. They told me to file for unemployment while I was still on short-term disability, which is technically fraud. Then they lied to the state unemployment office and said I quit. They never even acknowledged that my physician stated I was disabled. It proved not only that the management had no clue about my illness, but that the management of coding had no clue at all about medical terminology. One of the coders in that department coded my ER visit when I was admitted to the ICU. It showed how bad my condition was. I don't even remember my last four months working at TeamHealth, because I lost my memory in a coma. But they didn't care.
