Pros
Promotions and personal growth good if you are talented. You get to work on higher level tasks irrespective of experience and gain skills exponentially. Visibility is very important and deciding factor for promotions.
Cons
Little to none overseas travel/transfer opportunities. Benefits of performing well seem mostly to lead to more work and responsibility rather than matching economic benefits. Advancement much dependent upon your visibility in the Business Group and success/demand of the product that you work on rather than your skills. Management always seems to wake up only when the competition is way ahead and then nagging at R&D to rush things leading to even harder maintenance in future.
