Pros
Serious commitment to safety. VERY conservative business, so definitely will be there in 50 years. Pays well.. too well. Designed to keep you there addicted to the cash and low cost of living. And if you want to succeed long term, plan on living in Hartsville. Overall good people in the plants, but corporate is WELL paid managers that really don't do much.
Cons
CEO Tiede loves to appear "folksey", but you are a number... make ZERO mistake about it. Senior guys have been there a long time. VERY conscious of the public image. When they clean house every few years, they do it QUIETLY. Captive audience in Hartsville and the surrounding areas. Personally sat in meetings where the turnover after 3 year's skyrockets because people from outside SC have trouble dealing with living there. High pay and the low cost of living traps people. They LOVE recent grads because they are cheap. No kids or families to cover.Their pension plan and being self insured is huge burden for them. The Clemson thing is a recruiting tool. If you think it's because they are committed to education,. Bless your heart đź’“.. it's cute how they talk about promotion from within.. people stay there because they are trapped. 30 year olds making 6 figures is laughable, but people would have to take a massive pay cut to leave. But the budget gets blown up every 5 years and they silently fire the middle managers so the massive bonuses at the top can continue.. it's a Good old boys club. Buy your house in Hartsville, join the country club, and sing the company song..
