No work-life balance and pay thrown in face - Marketing Manager Sodexo Employee Review

Pros

Free food, meet tons of people in the local community, fun events

Cons

Zero work-life balance, especially if you are in middle management or above. If you don't work every hour you are awake, you are looked down upon and will receive passive-aggressive emails. When you are paid decently, they will remind you and expect you to work 24/7 just because you are paid a livable wage. Senior leadership supports toxic work environments, and no matter how much work you do, it's never enough. Marketing was expected to not only do our jobs but support operations as well at the same time. I didn't mind serving breakfast or lunch to students, but maybe the funding needs to go less to cute banners and more to the operations team so they don't feel so unsupported. Also, their health insurance, although it covers a lot, is so incredibly expensive.

Pros

My direct coworkers and other onsite employees are amazing and some of the nicest and most welcoming people I’ve ever met. The day to day responsibilities are enjoyable to work on most days. Company phone provided for work communications during work hours (you don’t have to take them home with you) Free meals on shifts worked (with restrictions) “Set schedule”

Cons

Work life balance is not great. You hire on for one position or schedule and then end up being required to perform job duties that are outside of your description on top of your daily responsibilities. Wages are really low. Unfair distribution of allotted overtime hours. Benefits are not good either. Insurance is really expensive for not great coverage. Maternity leave is only 6 weeks and only 60% of your pay covered by short term disability (that you pay for out of pocket until 2 years of service)
