First of all, thanks for taking the time to post a review! That being said I am sorry to hear that you did not completely enjoy your time as a Guru and that you felt your role was not valued. Whilst it may not have felt like it to you, Shopify really appreciates the importance of the Guru role and we have programs in place like Bridging the Gap (where employees in all roles at Shopify can listen-in to Guru support calls to maintain an up to date sense of what it’s like to be a merchant using the Shopify platform) and Internal Movement which aim to best leverage the skills and knowledge of our Guru team. In fact, many people at Shopify started as Gurus and have brought that wealth of ‘front-line’ business experience to their new roles within the business. Of course, regardless of the larger business objectives, if you are not feeling heard by your immediate lead it is understandable that you might feel left in the dark. If you find yourself in this situation you are always able to connect with your leads lead or reach out to you Business Partner in the Talent team to express your concerns. At Shopify we value diversity of thought and that means everybody has a right to be heard!

Pros

Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

Cons

Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

Pros

Great folks to work alongside. Work-life balance can be good, but depends upon the team/organization you are on.

Cons

Continuous layoffs have led to a poor work culture.
