      Pros

      - management team is dedicated to your development and well being - diverse team - amazing health benefits - extra perks such as meals, house cleaning, and annual spending for things such as gym memberships and business development - doing something that matters and helps merchants grow their businesses

      Cons

      - the work can be overwhelming at times and can lead to burnout, but this is not unique to Shopify and has been a factor in many of my previous jobs

      Pros

      Remote first culture. If you want freedom of location and a company to truly mean and support it - this is the place.

      Cons

      Constant change. Nothing to hold on to in this role, compensation, KPI's, tools all change every quarter.

      Pros

      Legacy Shopify ICs and lower-level managers are excellent and generally quite nice (company's Canadian after all) Caliber of engineering talent is generally high Dev-friendly stack (Ruby/Rails) Bleeding-edge AI adoption with unlimited token budget

      Cons

      Recently brought over a CTO from Microsoft: he brought with him a lot of not-at-all-nice people who are highly political, frequently rude/condescending to legacy Shopifolk, and make consistently bad/dev-hostile technical decisions Bleeding-edge AI adoption is being used to justify unreasonably increased expectations
