Pros

- Good place to learn and develop as a lawyer; - Flexible rotation where pupils are allowed to rotate freely to try out different areas of law; - Most of the lawyers are friendly and approachable; - Working hours are not long (depending on the amount of work given)

Cons

- Old office (gets very stuffy sometimes); - All pupils share the same email; - Any work (be it substantive or not) is dumped to the pupils and somehow somebody MUST take up the work; -Ongoing politics within the firm

Pros

- One of the best firms in the country, with ample opportunity to engage in substantive work. - great location, with cheap food options nearby. - the reputation speaks for itself. - bar the cons experienced by the pupils, the toxicity isn’t bad for associates and above - the pay and benefits are decent

Cons

- I’d still agree largely with the review posted on June 11 2025. The ecosystem promotes unnecessary toxicity among pupilmates. If anything, a silver lining is that one could say that it gives you a fresh and immediate exposure to the reality of the legal profession. Cut throat. A dog eat dog world. - if you aren’t too sure about what you want to do in your legal career, be cautious. Do not be fooled by the rotation system. It may appeal to people that in good faith want to explore the different practice areas on offer. However, you will be left at a major disadvantage compared to your peers that opt to tactically aim for retention. As the saying goes - a jack of all trade, but a master of none. - your exposure to substantive work depends on whether you’re lucky enough to get a good master/ whether you’re interested in playing the politics of getting tried out/confirmed. At times, pupils will find themselves more engrossed with the facade of being retained rather than focussing on learning your trade.
