Pros

Before they were laid off, I worked with some amazing people.

Cons

Very outdated mentality, where things aren't done for efficiency or benefit, just to say they were done. Lots of people just coasting in their careers, who have given up. They know their positions are secure, so they really don't need to expend any effort. Newcomers and hungry young workers are dismissed—innovation efforts in this direction rarely go anywhere due to bureaucracy and a judgmental, suffocatingly corporate attitude from the old guard. Further, they don't see productive uses for people or potential—they are not invested in professional development or growth, and moving up is impossible, even after 5 years of loyalty. Forget advancing or ever having your ideas taken seriously unless you're in their clique. I eventually lost my mojo and moved onto better things. ...Oh, by the way, their salaries are awful. I never got a raise in years of being with them on the Editorial side, when my friends were working at Salesforce and seeing the fruits of their labor much sooner. It was a waste of time.

Pros

When a project goes according to plan you can work with some great people and make decent money.

Cons

Bad behavior is tolerated when you have a weak team member. They are allowed to remain on payroll, even if they do not effectively contribute. The burden is often placed on the team members willing to pick up the slack. Promotions are not given to the most qualified. They are randomly assigned. There are some horrible scoring directors as a result.
