    Positive place to work with. Has a global reach so opportunities to work internationally. Fast paced environment. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

    Internal competition / overlapping strategies. Lack of cohesive leadership and direction in some areas. Budgets reducing.

    Remove unnecessary competition between siloed business areas and provide clearer strategic direction.

    Pros

    Pearson helped mold me into the sales professional I am today. Through on-going professional development and endless opportunities to fail, learn, and grow , I'm a better person from having worked there for a significant portion of my career.

    Cons

    Company is in the midst of transition from a legacy print business to a digital learning, content, and services company. Change is hard and much of the company's operations are still in flux as it learns to function like an ed tech company.

    Advice to Management

    Keep coaching your employees through this significant transition from a print to a digital learning services company. Taking care of your employees will continue to be mission critical as you weather the storm together.

    autonomy, being on college campus , calling on smart people that EXPECT that you and your competitors will be coming around.

    Cons

    in general, textbooks and media content for university courses is difficult to be passionate about.... but the job itself is still fun

    stop promoting successful sales reps too high into operations and management that they are neither trained for or good at. but DO listen with an open mind to those successful sales reps ideas and understandings about the market / trends / needs.

    Pros

    People are really smart, benefits are pretty good-- 401K match is excellent. Many people still have company cars which is a benefit that has gone away in other industries. Great job for someone young and bright who wants to get great experience in consultative sales. College campuses are typically fun places to work.

    Cons

    The industry is changing quickly so re-orgs are standard. With each re-org resources diminish. Customers are angry all the time because the technology breaks, tech support is horrible, faculty support is non-existent and they have had more reps than they can remember. The technology is past its prime and unstable because it sits on physical servers and is not cloud-based. Reps are working about 60%-70% of the time on administrative tasks, tech support and troubleshooting. They have very little time to actually sell or even build relationships with customers. There are serious sales crediting challenges. Reps were given a flat, capped bonus the last 2 years because of sales crediting issues and a variety of other factors. That has been upsetting for top-performing reps and leads to more rep turnover.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more part-time employees to pick up the slack. Invest more in tech support. Provide tangible growth & career opportunities for reps so they don't quit after 2-3 years.

    Telecommuting flexibility, lots of great talent, learning opportunities.

    Cons

    Reactive, amateurish CEO is over his head, and needs to go. Tiny bonuses, layoffs for the masses while the CEO takes in huge incentives. Bleeding talent fast.

    Get a new CEO now, don't let this drag out any longer.
