Pros
$1 health insurance for employee only coverage is about the only pro.
Cons
Guys and gals, do not believe the hype. This place is toxic. No one with years of experience want to come and work at Paycom. That’s why there are as a VP called it, “a lot of young faces and a millennial type culture.” You will be watched like a hawk and micromanaged. You will be held to insane metrics in every department. They even have multiple TVs up to display top and bottom performers. Even in departments where it’s insanely hard to quantify. They can trick fresh grads into believing the hype, but the reputation for Paycom amongst those with 3+ years of experience tells you all you need to know. Run. Do not work here. As you can probably see by the reviews, most of them come in groups and are pretty broad. This is because they have email campaigns to have certain individuals reach out to new hires or to individuals they know, and bribe them to write a good review with a T-shirt. Paycom will reply to this and say they “follow Glassdoor protocols”, which hey that may be true, but it’s very fishy when groups who get the most people to write a positive review are rewarded with Grubhub or some other gift card. They wanted people to talk about how well they are doing with Covid and were keeping tabs on how many people could get a positive review. I thought the potential for crazy earnings was worth sacrificing work/life balance and my mental sanity and well-being, but quickly found out I made the biggest mistake of my life by ever entertaining the thought of working there. They rule with absolutely fear, and there is NO job security. It’s a very much CYOA type of culture. People will throw you under the bus to make sure they are not the ones getting in trouble. There are what people call, “Paycom Lifers”, and these are the people who grew up in Paycom and are now “managers”. I put that in quotations because while they may have the title, they are completely inept at developing individuals, but are very good at playing the Paycom way, and got in early and that is the only reason they were promoted. They have never been a part of other companies, and it’s very evident. I know what it’s like to not know who you can talk to or who you can trust. You have to fake being happy and the only people who make it “far” (I mean what is far when you’re faking it and not being true to yourself?) are the ones who never disagree or never offer varying perspectives. Don’t even think for a second you can speak to HR about managerial misconduct or anything, and I truly caution anyone, because HR is in on it too. They will again write a review about reaching out to an HR business partner, but do not. They will not keep anything confidential and are boldly committing violations. They will probably also say, “obviously not a fit for the organization” or “sorry that you had this experience, but we disagree”. Guys, this isn’t a one off. Paycom has this reputation all across Oklahoma City no matter what the recruiters or individuals say when they are trying to get you in the door. This is a cult, and their actions and misconduct will catch up to them. I don’t blame you if you’re enticed, heck I was, but when you see through their charade, they will gaslight you and tell you that you weren’t cut out for it or was because you couldn’t survive. Don’t believe it.
