Pros

1) CULTURE - Drinking the koolaid is infectious. Everyone acts super stoked on everything Paycom and they do a really good job of driving that hard. The product is fantastic and the company is doing a really good job in driving it in the right direction. 2) SKILL - They really do hire some of the best people at Paycom. There are some quality people in all areas of the business. 3) Management - I have to say that Jeff as a sales leader was one of the best parts of working at Paycom. He's inspiring, attentive, and a joy to be around.

Cons

1) MONEY - The base salary make living really difficult since they keep it consistent in every state even though the cost of living in CA is vastly different than CA. It can be hard to succeed in sales so if you don't succeed fast, you don't get commission. 2) POLICY - The policy of wearing a full suit definitely works most places. However, in the Silicon Valley / SF area where most of the companies are wearing jeans and t-shirts, it doesn't always work out as well. Same with the general approach with the territory. In a start-up rich environment, it can be really hard to succeed when the companies in your small territory leave the area as soon as they are large enough to target. It can make it REALLY hard to succeed. 3) Management - not everyone is like Jeff.

We agree, Paycom has a fantastic product, amazing culture and we do hire the best people. As with any true B2B sales position, commissions are important and Paycom offers uncapped commission potential, so regardless of where you currently reside you’re never limited on what you can make. A full suit is required for our sales reps as they meet with high level executives. They must match the look and demeanor to be a successful rep. We hope you speak with your regional manager or office manager about any future concerns you may have.

Pros

You can make a lot of money if you are in the right territory and have a good client base that hasn’t been oversold by previous AMs. The training is very good and you will make good friends! The people they hire are smart and fun to be around

Cons

If there has been high turnover in your territory it will be hard to sell as the clients have products that have not been properly implemented and are likely gun shy to purchase. It will also depend how “over promised/under delivered” their experience with new business is. The work/life balance can, and probably will, become very toxic. You are on the road constantly if you have a travel heavy territory which makes it difficult to get admin work done during business hours. You will be working before and/or after work - probably on the weekends as well. Ask for transparency in your territory assignment. You want to know how far your furthest client is as you will have to go see them in person at some point
