I felt overwhelmed from day 1 and this continues through month number 5 of my employment. My training period was a week to teach me the ins and outs of annunities to be able to call out on the status' of transfers. Coming in from the insurance industry, I thought I would have been easily able to transfer my skills. I was wrong. I was on the phones in my first week talking 'intelligently' to companies and our sales representatives. This training regimen was no different to be able to process applications, one of the more significant and tedious tasks of the job. One week to learn all the different working parts and special exceptions then I was on my own with my trainer on the other side of the department to ask questions. The training is barely a priority to get employees able to take on new skills as it feels they would rather have you processing poorly than take the time to properly teach.
Department feels ridiculously disorganized in simple day to day tasks. NO assistance from Supervisors or upper management when the queues become so overwhelming we have to stay til the late hours of the night to prepare for the following day. Toxic department with co-workers bickering about decisions made by supervisors and senior processors. It doesn't feel there is a respect for a work-life balance among processors. Because of the 'Pacific Promise' we have to stay late or come in early to satisfy a ridiculous statement.
Meetings with Supervisors feel like they are fruitful and productive until the suggestions and recommendations you voiced seemed to go ignored. You'll be listened to, but never heard.
Burnout is high and quick. This department is a well-fueled dumpster fire.
