Pros

Opportunities to work with complex and challenging technology Paid or reimbursed training with incentives Amazing culture Middle management is going to keep this company together and make it a good home for the employees. They were directly mentored by the former senior leadership that built the culture and they hold as strongly to the original culture as they can.

Cons

Senior management was replaced and the new team was hired from larger, more corporate environments. They were not hired based on how well they fit the culture. I think some of them are not aware that they are there to serve the team and clients, not the other way around. There is no formal path for career progression or promotion. The work load is so intense, personal growth and mentoring sessions are often forgotten. The technology is getting in the way of serving the clients. It's growing in complexity and technical escalations are rampant due to its complexity. Communication internally is not consistent. Key personnel may go weeks without responses from leadership and fail to perform to standard because of the last minute scramble.

Pros

Good for first-timers with no experience. In a year, you'll have learned what other IT professionals take decades to pick up.

Cons

No employee has more than 3 years of experience at this company. Talent is underpaid and constantly looking for the exits. There is no advancement across Group companies except for sycophants... but none last more than 2 years before incompetence catches up with them. On-call is "engaged to wait" and uncompensated for that time, despite legal requirements. It's been like this for 35+ years across all McLane Group companies... so at least he's consistent.
