Pros
Not many overhours. Would not recommend working there unless you 1) have a specific use for MVRDV‘s name on your CV and have a plan in mind for your next professional pursuit 2) you are a well-rounded professional who is not looking to grow but rather exchange your expertise for favourable conditions 3) you have a special relationship with management or partners in terms of networking
Cons
* Don’t be fooled by the name or better said be aware that you will be working only for it. The Berlin office is a satellite and nothing more - as an employee you experience all the negatives of working for a large corporate name and zero of the positives of the creative energy, fulfilling work and incredible friendly working atmosphere that you benefit from in Rotterdam Kommunikation * By far more than 50% of your time at work will be spent on bridging the communication gap between Rotterdam and Berlin. The bigger the project, the more time you will be spending in a phone booth on internal communication rather than external * Pay extra attention to communication with office management. Difficult to collaborate with. Operating exclusively for self and corporate interest Gehalt * Salaries are LOW. Even in the context of architecture and even for Berlin Arbeitsatmosphäre * Office spaces are mediocre and depressing. For a design office of that scale it is unacceptable to work in spaces that cover the bare minimum of the legal requirements to call a room an Arbeitsstätte. White rectangular rooms with 2 rows of desks facing each other, depressing artificial light and not enough natural light, lack of common areas, lack of communication & exchange spaces, lack of appropriate eating areas. Forget about being inspired!
