Pros

They had the option of pursuing a purely technical career path, as opposed to eventually being on the management track. By the way, I took early retirement in 2005, but GlassDoor doesn't allow the entry of a year that far in the past.

Cons

They no longer exist in the United States, having been purchased by Bank of America.
