“Psychiatrists” are mainly nurse practitioners and seem to sometimes act more like drug dealers by prescribing medications and not following up with clients. Clinical directors and supervisors are unresponsive when you need guidance/support. Intake team seems to literally have kids doing intake. No one has clinical experience, which leads to poor matching of clients to therapist and poor screening for appropriateness. Therapists are fee for service, leading to inconsistent income. They advertise making $100k/yr but you won’t unless you give up your life and see 40 clients/week. They also underpay those who have way more experience but pay those who have been with the company longer better. So that’s probably why they think/say you can make $100/yr. For example, a newly licensed therapist who’s been with the company longer can earn up 65% of what the insurance pays but someone who’s new to the company and licensed for 5 years gets 55%. They will also argue they try to give diverse insurance companies as Medicaid clients can’t be charged for no shows, meaning you lose money. Well, be prepared for mostly Medicaid clients. Also double check your checks. They’re notorious for not paying you correctly. Maybe is my location but I’m shocked with the lack of cultural awareness when it comes to providing care.
